GT&E Policies & Procedures

The policies and procedures published here are to be considered the most recent revision of Global policy, and will supercede any other policy or work practice unless otherwise explained here.

Our Philosophy

We have built a business to provide the opportunity for employees to learn, and use what they learn, on the job to improve their productivity and their company. We have assembled a coalition of subject matter experts who provide the best quality instruction at a fair price.

Admissions

We welcome students of all races, creeds, nationality, religion or political persuation desiring to develop or improve their work skills and meet regulatory requirement. There may be specific preparatory course requirements for specialized or advanced programs, refreshers, etc. We will seek to accommodate all persons with disabilities. Our facility is designed to accommodate disabilities.

Registration

Students may register through their company via phone, e-mail, fax, regular mail or internet. Companies with proper credit will be invoiced, to be paid within 30 days after receiving invoice.

Air Travel, Temporary Accommodations & Meals

The Lafayette Regional Airport is approximately five minutes drive from our main campus. We have negotiated hotel rates substantially below market, all within five minutes of our main campus. Specific information can be provided during registration. Several local and chain restaurants are conveniently located within walking distance. Global will be happy to place an initial reservation for your students. However, rescheduling, cancellations or substitutions – and any associated costs – will be the responsibility of the client.

Meals can be catered for students for an extra charge. Simply request this service when booking your course.

Tardiness, Absences, etc.

General Tardiness/Absense Policy

  • All students are expected to be on time and attend the complete course for which they are registered. Should emergencies arise during the course, we will contact the company to reschedule.
  • Each course has minimum attendance requirements published in the Instructor’s Guide, normally between 80% – 90%, though some courses may require 100% attendance.
  • If a student is absent an amount of time within this allowable tolerance, it will be left to the instructor’s discretion as to whether or not the student can continue with the course.
  • Should the student be denied the right to continue in the course due to absense/tardiness issues at instructor’s discretion, they shall be informed of their right to appeal this decision to the Director of Training Operations.
  • If a student is absent more than the allowable time tolerance, they will not be allowed to continue in the course. The student will receive either an ‘incomplete’ or ‘fail’ grade, and will be required to repeat the course, in it’s entirety to change the grade to ‘pass’.
  • For open enrollment courses, the client will be charged for the training day attended only.
  • For special order courses, the client may be charged a cancellation penalty, and any associated expenses [air fare, lodging, etc.]
  • Students who disrupt the learning of others during the course will be warned. If the warning is not heeded and the disruption continues, the student will be escorted from the classroom.
  • Students caught cheating will be failed and/or dismissed and their company informed.
  • Students promoting cheating may also be failed and/or dismissed and their company informed.

Tardiness/Absense Policy for Production Safety Systems [T-2]

  • Maximum number of students allowed per course is 20.
  • Daily duration for T-2 courses are 7 hours [min.] – 9 hours [max.] on Day One and Day Two.
  • Daily duration for T-2 courses are 3.5 hours [min.] – 5.5 hours [max.] for the instruction portion of Day Three.
  • The written and performance evaluations shall be given immediately following the instruction portion of Day Three, and shall not exceed 3.5 hours in duration.
  • Should a student be absent less than three hours during the entire duration of the course, the student may be allowed to make up the hours missed, at instructor’s discretion.
  • Should the student be denied the right to continue in the course because of absense/tardines at instructor’s discretion, they shall be informed of their right to appeal this decision to the Director of Training Operations.
  • Should a student be absent more than three hours during the entire duration of the course, the student will be given a grade of ‘incomplete’ or ‘fail’, and will not be allowed to continue their current enrollment. The student will be required to repeat the course, in it’s entirety and successfully pass the prescribed evaluation before the grade can be changed to ‘pass’.
  • A student missing more than three hours in one T-2 may appeal to the Director of Training for a medical exemption with a doctor’s excuse.

Complaint Resolution Policy

Our goal is to ensure that every customer is satisfied with the value they receive for their training and consulting dollars. All students will be informed of the right to make a complaint or an appeal and will be provided written details of the process for doing so, upon request. Should complaints arise, the following procedures shall be used to assure satisfaction:

  • All students are given an opportunity to register a complaint through their course evaluation sheet issued at the end of each course.
  • Each course evaluation sheet shall be reviewed by the Instructor as well as the Director of Training Operations.
  • Additionally, any student or client can register a formal written complaint at any time to the Director of Training Operations.
  • All formal written complaints received shall be the subject of a root cause analysis and resulting report that shall include a provision for corrective and/or preventive actions to be taken as a result.
  • The Director of Training Operations will then rule on the complaint based on the information revealed through the RCA report.
  • The complaint resolution issued by the Director of Training Operations regarding formal written complaints may be appealed to the GT&E President within 30 days of issuance of the written report.
  • Should there be concerns that can not be resolved involving a accredited or certified course, the accrediting or certifying authority will be included with the Director of Training Operations and/or GT&E president and customer’s personnel to assure a satisfactory resolution.
  • This policy will be utilized for all student complaints, including disputes in grading.

Locations

Our main campus is located at 319 Mecca Drive, Lafayette LA 70508. We offer many of our programs at a customer’s site or other remote locations worldwide.

Grading System

Students are evaluated during classroom activities for demonstrated competency. A written examination, in English, is also administered. Successful classroom and laboratory competency and a 70% score on any written examination or physical proficiency examination are required for successful completion and a certificate.

This 70% requirement may be increased if requested by the client or accrediting body [i.e. test out involving SafeLandUSA will require 90% score to receive a grade of ‘pass’].

Unless otherwise prohibited, the instructor may declare ‘special circumstances’ and, at his/her discretion, forego the traditional written examination by substituting a one-on-one interview with the student following successful completion of the course material. In these ‘special circumstances’, the instructor may utilize a pass/fail grading system to evaluate a student.

The instructor also may, at their discretion, provide oral testing of any student who can’t read.

Examinations

General Examination Procedures

  • Examinations may be written, skills performance observations, or any combination of activities that confirm, at a minimum, knowledge of the topic as addressed in the stated objectives of the course.
  • Written examination scores are determined as a percentage of questions or question parts.
  • Score is a percentage, with 100% being a perfect score.
  • Practical examinations are scored by the instructor according to an established procedure and the adherence of the student’s performance to that procedure.
  • The student may request an oral examination, or other method of examination if the student can present a verifiable disability or limitation which would inhibit them from completing a written examination.
  • During oral examinations, the instructor will take all precautions not to indicate correct or incorrect answers to the question or exercise.

Examination Time Limits

  • Examinations shall be of sufficient length and time to adequately determine the student’s competency and knowledge of the topic[s] being studied.
  • The course objectives shall be the minimum level of testing.
  • Examinations shall be of sufficient length for the student to demonstrate successful understanding of the knowledge required.

Production Safety Systems Testing

  • T-2 written examinations shall be no longer than 2.5 hours. T-2 practical examinations shall be no longer than one hour. Examination preparation will include generating multiple and unique examinations.
  • Examinations for Production Safety Systems [T-2] shall include the following methods to assure the ability to generate multiple and unique examination:
    1. Questions on examinations shall be in unique order, and/or include unique questions.
    2. The Director of Training shall approve all examinations.
    3. Each examination shall be coded for identification.
    4. An ‘Instructor Key’ shall be developed for each examination.

Retesting

  • When a student does not achieve the minimum required score on any examination, they shall be allowed the opportunity for one [1] re-test. This re-test may utilize a different examination or practical skills problem than the one previously given. It shall test the same skills failed in the original examination.
  • Re-testing may be performed by the same instructor as the initial test, or a different instructor. However, the re-testing must be performed by a Global Training & Environmental representative.
  • Re-testing shall occur within 24 hours of the original test.
  • Acceptable passing score for the re-test shall remain the same as the passing score for the original test.
  • A student will be allowed only one re-test for any course taken. If the student does not achieve a passing score on the re-test, they will receive a failing score for the course, and be required to retake the course in its entirety before being given another examination opportunity. The re-testing policy will become renewed for the second, and any additional full course taken.

Examination Security

  • All examinations are printed on the day the examination is to be given.
  • The exact number of tests for the class will be given to the instructor at the beginning of the test day.
  • The instructor will count the number of tests and confirm that there is one test for each student.
  • The instructor will count the number of keys and confirm that there is one test key for each unique exam delivered.
  • The instructor will be responsible to keep the tests and test key in a secure place until the time for the testing.
  • The course instructor, assistant instructor or assigned proctor will be present during the written examination period.
  • Following test completion, the instructor will gather all tests, score them and perform a final count to assure that all tests have been returned.
  • The instructor shall record the student test score on the registration sheet, confirming once more that all test have been returned.
  • The administrative staff shall shred any incomplete or surplus tests.

IADC RigPass Examinations

  • Any missed questions on the IADC RigPass exam must be reviewed and initialed by the student.

Completion Certificates

Successful student are awarded completion certificates and wallet cards at course completion. In addition, copies of the certificates are sent to the employer.

Records

We have a computerized database to record every course attended by each student along with company cross-referencing. Records retention and retrieval is provided as a major service to our customers.

For all API TPCP or IADC approved courses, records and copies of completed examinations will be maintained by Global for a period of at least five years from the date of completion.

Job Placement

No recruiting shall take place at our facility. We will be happy to assist those attempting to get employment in our industries through providing contacts with those companies with whom we do business.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Registration fees are refunded when the class for which enrollment was submitted is full, or the class is cancelled, or when the registered person or company contact notifies us at least two working days prior to the start of class of the intention to cancel. Failure for a company to notify us of a cancellation at least two working days prior to the start of class could result in charging full course costs for a NO SHOW.

Instructor / Provider Network

If for some reason you do not see a course that you want, please let us know. We offer many courses and programs that aren’t listed. We have several partnerships with providers whom we can utilize to accomplish your training goals. We can also develop a customized course if you so desire.

Payment Terms

  • Payment will be due for all Global services rendered within 30 days after receipt of invoice.
  • Any past due balance [carried further than 30 days after receipt of invoice] is subject to a 5% late fee.
  • Any balance carried past 120 days from receipt of invoice is subject to an additional 5% penalty.

Student Confidentiality

  • For the purposes of this confidentiality policy, personal information is any information that concerns and can identify a person.
  • Student agreement to the terms and conditions of training shall indicate that student’s agreement to release to the Global customer represented by the student any information regarding that student that is relevant to the student’s performance during training. This includes written examination scores, results of practical demonstrations, any tardiness, absences or general disposition while representing the Global customer.
  • Global Training & Environmental, Inc. shall not share any personal information collected regarding students with any party other than the student or the Global customer represented by the student [i.e. student’s employer] without receiving prior consent of the student.
